My name is Kennedy Sabelko and my passion for helping individuals achieve a better quality of life stems from my own personal and cultural experiences.  I have a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I have over 15 years of experience working in the mental health and educational profession while teaching and providing mental health and substance abuse treatment to both adolescents and adults. I specialize in working with adult and juvenile offenders, at risk adolescents and individuals with cultural related concerns. I have worked as an outpatient therapist, residential therapist and jail-based therapist.

I hold certificates in Trauma Informed Care from the ChildTrauma Academy while working with founder, Dr. Bruce Perry and a Graduate Certificate in Adults with Co-occurring Psychiatric Disabilities and Substance Abuse. I have facilitated Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, (MI) Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Relapse Prevention and Smart Recovery models

I also work for Denver Public School district as an InSchool Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist, and I am a co-founding member of Denver Partners for Youth Success Coalition (DPYS). Facilitated by Denver Public Health, DPYS is a community coalition that is working through the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMSA) Strategic Prevention Framework-Partnership for Success to address three of the nation’s top substance abuse prevention priorities: drinking, marijuana use and prescription drug misuse among youth in Denver.
